Khai Cowley was on a surfing vacation to the desolate Ethel Beach with his father. He was riding the waves when something powerful pulled him into the water from below.

In a clean bite, his foot was completely severed. Tim Phillip saw the whole incident and narrated the young victim’s ordeal in mind-numbing detail. The heroic surfer turned rescuer and jumped into the dangerous water to drag Khai back to shore. Paramedics rushed to the scene, but by then the boy had passed away.
