Mishaps during sports events can result in calamitous occurring, often jeopardizing the life of the athlete. Tahiti’s Eimeo Czermak recently became a victim of one such unfortunate event, suffering a wipeout during surfing. Sharing an update regarding the wipeout during the 2023 Vans Pipe Masters, he is now hospitalized.

Czermak recently took to his Instagram to update fans and well-wishers regarding his current condition. The pictures he posted indicate that the surfer still has a long way to go on the path of recovery. However, his note suggests that he is taking up and fighting out the situation with utmost courage and faith.

Taking to his Instagram handle, the Tahitian surfer gave a detailed update along with a glimpse into what transpired during the wipeout at the Vans Pipe Masters. He wrote in the caption, “Hey everyone, first of all, I want to say a huge thanks to @vanssurfevents and everyone who reached out to me when I wasn’t ok. This was probably one of the hardest and scariest moments of my life.”


While his memory of the event has blurred out, a clip in his post shows what had happened. At present, Czermak intends to take a break, not dwelling on the details of the unfortunate event. However, he grabbed the opportunity to express his gratitude, “…I’m so happy and grateful to be alive and looking forward to heal.”

For Czermak, it is an uphill task to accept what happened during the waves, and he revealed his disappointment in the same. However, in a display of hope, he wrote, “I’m alive and gonna be able to walk again hopefully soon…” The young surfer also announced to be taking a break from his social media to focus on his recovery and health.

Eimeo Czermak Shares Glimpses of the Wipeout

In the clip shared by the surfer, as an 8-to10-foot wave approached Czermak, he jumped off his surfing board. Plunging into the waters head first, he got driven to the bottom by the force of the waves. However, he gathered strength to walk out, while massaging his neck, where he seemed to be excruciatingly twitching with pain.

The wipeout took place during round three when Czermak was pitched in opposition to the Florence brothers and he fell heavily. He then got a ride to the shore, wherein the medical staff examined him. We pray for the speedy recovery of Czermak.
