Kelly Slater wrote on his Instagram story, “Some horrible news tonight that our dear friend and legendary Filmer @fluid_vision (Larry Haynes) has sadly passed. This man is a staple in our lives, traveling the globe and filming everyone who’s ever caught a wave in front of him. It’s hard to imagine a surfing world without Larry in it always screaming us into waves and throwing good vibes. Gonna really miss this guy”. He attached a picture of Haynes with his mouth wide open as if he is screaming out of shock or terror.
Larry Haynes was a water cinematographer who mostly filmed surfing videos by following surfers, sometimes to the world’s end. He died of a suspected heart attack while crossing the road to surf in Oahu’s North Shores. Tributes, including Slater’s, have been pouring in from every corner of the surfing world.
