Amidst this learning curve, around 2 months ago, Hamilton also faced a near-death experience. Now, after the F1 prodigy faced a thrilling experience, Lenny was seen having the time of his life at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Lenny has ascended the stairs of success when it comes to surfing. He has gathered multiple accolades and has dedicated his life to the sport. However, he still has the urge to gain new experiences. He was seen taking the complete experience of F1 racing in Las Vegas.

The World Surf League shared a video of him on their X account from the Grand Prix. Lenny is seen sitting in the passenger seat of the F1 car and recording the whole experience. The caption to this post carried, “Hot laps at the Las Vegas Grand Prix with @Kai_Lenny”.?Lenny looks at both surfing and F1 from the same lens. In his sport, he keeps his focus on improving his equipment for better performance and the same is with F1 as well. Both these sports require utmost attention and a hypervigilance. Similarities like this must have been the reason for Hamilton’s interest in surfing. Just like F1 racing, he has also faced the same in surfing when he found a perfect escape in a near-death experience.

Lewis Hamilton’s near-death experience while surfing?

In 2021, the racer saw death face to face at Banzai Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. He was out surfing with the legend Kelly Slater. Hamilton wanted to surf the queen of all waves and it was one of the scariest yet thrilling experiences for the Formula 1 racer.

He witnessed a 25-foot wave coming in and he fearlessly went out. He surfed through the waves and experienced the large beast beside him. It was an extremely huge tunnel and to make sure he didn’t get stuck in it, Hamilton dived and grabbed the reef. The wave landed behind him and sounded like a bomb going off. Hamilton, after this, expressed, “My board got ripped and snapped in half. I was very close to the end. But that excites me for some reason”.?Being an F1 racer, he really tackled the situation with a surfing mindset.
