The annual US Open Surfing is in progress. The world’s biggest surfing event attracts talent from across the globe. The event is held at the Huntington Beach Pier and is open to the audience. The audience is rooting for the local talent who is making waves at the event.

22-year-old Crosby Colapinto has shown in the event what he’s made of. The surfer from San Clemente, California is on a different level and has reached the semi finals of the event. The fans are astonished with his form and he has gone candid about it recently.

Crosby Colapinto looked motivated from the start and took advantage of every opportunity that came his way. Initially, the waves were not that great, but C didn’t lose hope. He took the chance and performed a combination of maneuvers to score 6.50 and 6.70 in the third and fourth wave. His tricks on the steepness of the face of the wave, moving straight from top to bottom driving cutbacks, to show variety and finish. Colapinto scored 13.20 points to win and qualified for the semis.

Speaking about his feelings after the great achievement the 22-year-old surfer said that  “it’s insane“. He feels loved and hyped by the support of the crew who just run to him when he returns from the heat. That motivates him and is thankful to them. He further said that he “just got so excited and emotional, because all your best friends and you doing what you love“. He mentioned that things did not go as he planned. Yet, he stayed calm and believed in himself and his abilities to pull out that win. Crosby Colapinto’s journey to the semis has been brilliant and he aims to carry forward his form to the finals.

Crosby Colapinto arrived at the event after showing a formidable performance at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast Pro in Australia where he finished in third position. Carrying forward his form the surfer in the round of 80 qualified comfortably to the next round. In the round of 64, he rode six waves scoring the highest point 15.67 defeating his nearest rival Mateus Herdy by 4.44 points. He scored the highest despite being in difficult short waves. In the round of 32 Crosby scored 10.93 points with five waves trailing behind the topper Michael Rodrigues by 2.67 points who scored more with eight waves.

Colapinto qualified for the round of 16 where he beat his compatriot Jett Schilling. He scored 12.86 with five waves and Jett scored 9.57 with ten waves. In the quarter-finals, he clashed again with the Brazilian surfer Mateus Herdy whom he defeated earlier in round 64 in this event. At quarters Colapinto again defeated the Brazilian with a slim margin of 0.83 points ad qualified for the semis. In the semi-final, he will face another American Nolan Rapoza.
