The surfing world has been taken over by sea creatures. In the waters of Santa Cruz, otters have begun stealing surfing boards. Especially a 5-year-old avid female thief otter whose theft videos have taken the internet by storm. However, another species from the depths has also expressed an interest in surfing.

Recently surfers in San Diego were coasting through swells when they noticed another lovely creature, a baby seal named Sammy, trying to catch the swells with them. The adorable big-eyed creature has become a sea friend who goes surfing with surfers every day, melting the hearts of millions.

Baby Seal joins the surfer along the coast of San Diego

Recently, USA Today shared an adorable video where, Sammy the Seal was seen sitting excitedly sitting on the surfboards as the surfers paddled her on the waves. The baby seal was also seen riding the waves alone; a surfer latched the board to himself while holding it from behind as Sammy surfed on the water. Lastly, in the video, After catching a few swell the adorable baby seal lost its balance and fell into the water.

The pup has been coming with these surfers to hit the San Diego water for some time now. In the beginning, surfers speculated that little Sammy wanted to join them to protect itself from shark attacks However, a non-profit organization later revealed that Sammy is perfectly safe. Further, according to the organization, surfers should still maintain a safe distance from the animal and avoid mingling in their natural habitat. Besides Sammy, many other animals have shown a keen interest in surfing, including a fluffy surfboard-stealing otter.

Surfboards stealing otter gains a fan club in Santa Cruz

For a while now, a female sea otter has reigned terror over the waters of Santa Cruz. The five-year-old furry otter has been stealing expensive surfing boards and sometimes even damaging them. Videos of the otter have gone viral as the mammal flappingly takes a bold step and takes away the boards from humans. However, with continuous stealing, the otters have become a concern for the public’s safety. Government agencies have decided to capture the five-year-old surfboard stealer and give her a new home.
