Andre De Grasse recently grabbed headlines for his off-season activities playing basketball player LeBron James’s favorite sport. James is the first active NBA player to achieve billionaire status, with Forbes estimating his net worth at $1 billion in June 2022. It appears that Grasse is enjoying his newfound hobby. Along with this, De Grasse and his spouse showcased their shared love through a fun TikTok video.

 

De Grasse also made headlines for his life off the court. Fans were in awe when he credited his wife in the 100m hurdles for inspiring him to win the men’s 200m gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In this victory, he surpassed top US athletes, including Kenneth Bednarek, Noah Lyles, and the 17-year-old Erriyon Knighton. He highlighted how Ali’s success in Doha 2019 motivated him, putting his growth on track. “I’ve been through so much in these five years,” De Grasse told BBC Sport.

Let’s sprint into De Grasse’s achievements

Andre De Grasse has had a remarkable track and field career. He made history at the 2016 Rio Olympics by winning medals in the 100m and 200m events, as well as the 4x100m relay. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, he secured a gold medal and a silver, along with his Canadian teammates winning gold in the 4x100m relay at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. However, luck doesn’t always stand on one’s side, as he faced injury setbacks in 2017 and 2018. The athlete made a strong comeback in 2019 by winning bronze and silver in the 100m and 200m at the World Athletics Championships.

De Grasse’s breakout year was in 2015 when he won double bronze at the World Athletics Championships and achieved success at the Pan Am Games. Before embarking on his professional career, he gained recognition by winning the 100m and 200m at the NCAA Championships in 2015. He turned professional in December 2015, and since then, De Grasse has become one of Canada’s most successful sprinters, amassing numerous Olympic and World Championship medals.
