Now playing for the San Diego Wave, Morgan returned home to play for her hometown club. She scored 115 goals in 190 appearances for the USWNT, a two-time World Cup champion, and won the Olympic gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics. In addition, she won the NWSL championships with the Portland Thorns in 2013 while also winning the prestigious Champions League with Lyon.

Having given up on meat and dairy products in 2017, Morgan is now fitter and leaner, while training hard at the gym. Most people are switching to plant-based food diets.

However, she talked about getting proteins from plant-based diets as there are no meats involved in the diet. So what does her diet look like?

What does Alex Morgan eat?

With the controversies regarding factory farming, Morgan started doing the diet due to ethical reasons and because of her sympathy towards animals. Her love for animals switched her to the plant-based diet, but it soon paid dividends. Her cholesterol levels dropped in half while mentally she became stronger. So her strict diet plan helps her to recover after high-intense training sessions or tough matches. Thus, her food diet is something that people can follow.

She starts her day with oatmeal with accompaniments like banana, blueberries, cinnamon, and maple syrup. After that, eating salads for lunch is the main meal. She eats a big salad with pecans, walnuts, beets. If not salads, she prefers having tofu with rice and veggies. For dinner, she eats Mexican food like a burrito bowl and tacos with black beans and rice. Moreover, having Fajita veggies, with salsa and avocado, is one of the other dishes she has. In addition, having an energy bar helps her to keep her in good shape that consists of nut butter, oats, chocolate chips, and coconut flakes.

Cutting out on one’s favorite meat and sugar products is something unfathomable for many people. Transitioning herself from eating meat to plant-based diets is something that may take time. Hence, Morgan talked about how she transformed herself and the mental fortitude to maintain a vegan diet.

“I can only attest to how I went vegan. I made a slow transition. First I cut out meat, before eggs and dairy. That helped me get a sense of what my meals would look like, before going cold turkey,” said Morgan.

It’s incredible to see what Morgan followed throughout her career. She is one of the best soccer players in the world. Her goals have helped her country to win accolades and trophies. Hence, with a vegan-based diet, Morgan looks to continue playing with her latest club, the San Diego Wave.
