USWNT Legend Carli Lloyd Hints at a Potential NFL Career- “My Eyes and Ears Open”

Kicking a football involves incredible technique and power. Carli Lloyd did that for many seasons for both the USWNT and her clubs. Her contact with the ball is so pure that she gets an incredible amount of power to every kick. Scoring goals for fun, Lloyd’s goals were instrumental for USWNT’s success. Hence, with her soccer career done and dusted, she has opened up on looking for opportunities in the NFL.

Being a fantastic kicker is one of the most important aspects of the NFL. Hence, with a bullet of a kick, Lloyd can be an asset to any team.

The two-time World Cup winner and two-time Olympic gold medalist look to carve out a career in the NFL. After retiring from the sport, she wants to see whether she can try her luck in the NFL. A video emerged of the striker making a 55-yard field goal at the preseason training camp for the Philadelphia Eagles. Hence, it went viral in 2019 as she is ready to try her luck in American football.

“Anything’s possible. I’m definitely keeping my eyes and ears open, and I’m open to the opportunity should that arise,” said Lloyd.

Many teams have expressed their interest in signing Lloyd up. Moreover, she scored 134 goals in her USWNT career, and no player without an effective kick can score as many goals. Earlier, Lloyd had spoken about putting her mind to the sport. But, there is a lot of work to do for her to come back to her best.

Getting back to shape

For a person who retired back in November, she spoke about wanting to do a lot of work, before she can come and play. Hence, it is going to be important for her to get back to full fitness before looking to play in the NFL.

“I definitely would have to get my kicking leg back into shape, as I haven’t kicked a ball of any sort since November. But yeah, I’m definitely still potentially open to that. I think we’ll just see how everything unfolds and if the opportunity arises,” said Lloyd.
