Excited was the word Trinity Rodman recently used to describe her reunion with Emma Hayes. After months away because of injuries and domestic commitments, the Washington Spirit forward finally returned to the USWNT roster, having last played in the 2024 Paris Olympics. But if you think her return is the only thing worth celebrating, think again! There’s also a new addition to Hayes’ coaching staff—someone coming off their unique on-pitch triumph to the team!

The protagonist goes by the name of Ella Masar. Ring any bells? Well, we hope it does because the former American-Canadian midfielder is joining the US Women’s National Team’s coaching staff for the upcoming April camp. During her playing days, she had worn red, blue, and white both at the youth and senior level.

Her debut match dates back to 2009 against Germany. However, this would be the first time we see her returning to Team USA as part of the coaching team. Having played a part in Lorne Donaldson and Co.’s coaching team at Chicago Stars as an assistant, she’ll surely bring a lot to the table for Hayes and the USWNT players.

Well, it’s almost as if Masar has sort of unlocked a portal of luck. That’s because the Chicago Stars’ assistant boss recently shared a huge update regarding her personal life. It’s not just the USWNT with a new addition, Masar herself has a new addition of her own. And, it concerns her family. Well, for quite a while, Ella, along with her significant other Babett Peter—former German international—were embroiled in a legal battle over the adoption of a kid. However, just hours ago, Masar finally dropped a positive update.

Sharing a carousel of pictures to showcase their adopted baby, she wrote a lengthy caption saying, “After a lot of moving pieces, paperwork needed from 3 different countries, and time, the Masar-Peter family is finally one. ❤️❤️❤️ March 4th, will forever be our day when we made it official that no one can take away the bond or rights of MOTHERS to their sons.”

And the cherry on top is, of course becoming a part of Hayes’ team for the upcoming doubleheader against Brazil. While the first game will be played on April 5 at the SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, the second one will take place on April 8 at the PayPal Park, San Jose. In the meantime, Masar may be preoccupied with reading all the congratulatory messages that she has been receiving non-stop.

Emma Hayes’ new USWNT member gets drowned with plaudits!

The Chicago Stars had shared this latest update on their official Instagram account. So it was only natural for all the ardent fans and USWNT fanatics to sound off in the comments.

First, a surprising call-up to the US Women’s National Team, then, probably receiving one of the best updates regarding her family. Boy, has Masar hit the jackpot. But mind you, behind every success, there are also days of struggle. And it was fate’s way of giving back to the former Paris Saint-Germain and VfL Wolfsburg star, something that this fan echoes: “Ella deserves great things!!!”

Not just PSG or German giants Wolfsburg, but Masar’s resume is quite impressive, having played for a number of clubs. The list includes Sweden’s FC Rosengard, USL’s Vancouver Whitecaps, Norway’s Team Strømmen, and Chicago’s NWSL rival Houston Dash. Such experience speaks volumes, meaning she definitely has a lot to bring to the table for Hayes: “Let’s go Ella!!!”

We bet you never saw this coming, did you? On top of that, hardly anyone would have imagined seeing an assistant coach of a particular club team being called up for a brief coaching gig. Regardless, looks like this netizen is more than just simply excited: “We LOVE to see this.” Well if it isnt a melting pot of positivity and fairy tale beginnings that netizens cant get enough of, then what else?

Technically, this isn’t the first time Emma Hayes has called up different coaches for a specific tournament or camp. To recall, she once called her former WSL rival manager Carla Ward. Having left Aston Villa ladies, Ward was away from the beautiful game, but somehow ended up receiving a call from Hayes to join her coaching team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The rest, you know, is history. Who knows? A similar positive outcome may transpire in the case of Ella Masar, especially due to her unique character: “Bad a**!!”

The work must have already begun for Masar as we hope her input proves favorable to the American ladies. If everything goes well in this camp, then there shouldn’t be any reason to not call her up again for some national team contribution. In fact, Masar can even open her doors to something much bigger, like being a part of the USWNT’s 2027 World Cup gig. While all that can come later, she has her handsful with her upcoming debut: “Well deserved”

Be that as it may, this is just a glimpse of what you witnessed as many more stepped up to send their best wishes to Ella Masar. But what are your views on this? Tell us in the comments.
