In terms of legends in the US soccer scenario, Carli Lloyd is right up there with the best. Notably, the phenomenon will play her final game for the USWNT against South Korea in the upcoming friendly matches.

After winning two Olympic gold medals and two World Cups, Carli is calling it quits. The match is scheduled to be played in St. Paul, Minnesota, and will mark the end of Carli’s illustrious career. Notably, her teammates gave her a fitting tribute during her last training session with the USWNT.

Carli Lloyd bows out

Fans would hope for her to start the game against South Korea in order to see her for one last time. In the meantime, her teammates gave her a tribute by showering her with messages, thanking her for her service to the National team. Lloyd looks emotional as her teammates flocked around her to celebrate her final training session.

When talking about Carli Lloyd, the first thing that comes to mind is her incredible goal against Japan where she struck the ball from the halfway line. That strike cemented her legacy amongst the greats of the sport. In around 315 appearances for her country, she scored 134 goals. Thus, the national team will surely miss her influence and leadership moving forward.

Lloyd shares her experience

The icon spoke about her experience with the team and thanked everyone for their support.

“Sure there were times where maybe my focus was too intense, but I gave it all I had. And I think that’s what’s really special, walking away from this is knowing that I did give it all I have.”

“This next phase of mine, I think, is going to be no different. I’m going to find something that I’m passionate about and do it to the best of my ability. I want to eventually start a family with my husband and want to be the best mom and strive to be the best wife that I possibly can,” said Lloyd.

As her illustrious career comes to an end, Lloyd prepares to take the pitch one last time. Surely, she will go down in history as one of the very best to have played the beautiful game.
