Sadly, pitch invasion is starting to become the new normal in sports. On multiple occasions in recent times, fans both young and old have stormed onto the field, disrupting play. However, recently, a pitch invader received a rather physical greeting from Chelsea striker, Sam Kerr, when he rushed onto the field, during their Champions League game against Juventus.

It was hard to think of a way Sam Kerr could finish this week that would endear her to Australian fans even more, beyond what she’s achieved on the field.
This was the only way. https://t.co/Ydbsa5hqH3

Sam Kerr leveling that idiot pitch invader is funny and all but I'm glad nobody got hurt and I mostly come away again worried about security at women's soccer games. We've seen issues in the NWSL and w/USWNT in past years. We're lucky these people haven't had worse intentions.

Turns out, the fan wanted to take a picture with Chelsea captain Magda Eriksson. However, Sam was not impressed with his approach. Post the match, Chelsea boss Emma Hayes spoke about the same, highlighting the importance of players’ protection.
“So I think it should serve as a reminder to us all and the stadiums and stewards that we have to put player protection first,” said Hayes.

Fans react in favor of the Chelsea striker
One fan spoke in favor of Kerr as he loved her decision to bring the fan down. He questioned the welfare of all these players as fans invade the pitches for no reason these days. From taking selfies to getting autographs and jerseys, invasions have become customary for most fans as they merely rush onto the pitch.

So a pitch invader ran onto the field during Chelsea Womens' Champions League tie with Juventus.
Sam Kerr dropped her shoulder into him, and put him on his backside — she was booked as a result.
