The three-time Olympic gold medalist has had an amazing time vacationing with his girlfriend, Nina Dobrev, in Costa Rica. All the updates about their trip could be seen on their social media handles, and it appears that the couple was cherishing every moment of their time together.

Nina convinced Shaun White to be at the Oscars

Being a presenter at the Oscars is quite an honor. However, every great thing requires a sacrifice, and in this case, it is Nina. Since the Vampire Diaries actress will be indulged in a project in Europe, she’ll not be able to accompany Shaun to the Oscars. Regardless, she made sure that he didn’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

About his discussion with Nina, he said, “I was supposed to go to Europe and meet up with Nina and I was like, ‘Hey, I got asked to do this thing, like, what do you think?’ And she was just, like, ‘You have to [go].’ … She’s like, ‘You have to do it.”

His mom would be replacing Nina as his date for the Oscars, and she was equally excited about being there. Shaun added, “She’ so excited. I tried to, like, screen record her reaction, but the audio didn’t work. The things she said were incredible.”

Even his dad thought he would be a great surfer as he said, “My dad wanted me to be a surfer. I’m actually named Shaun, after Shaun Thomson, a pro surfer. And I don’t know, I picked a winner.”

Perhaps it’s the best career option for him after saying goodbye to snowboarding.
