Despite the Family Living on the Wheels for His Career, Shaun White Reveals a Hilarious Moment From His Journey

Amid the financial struggles, Shaun White’s family did everything to help him pursue his passion. The athlete’s family would camp at the foot of the mountains and also move into a van for some time to help the Snowboarder build a future out of his talent.

And when White reached the pinnacle, he did not forget his family’s sacrifice. Apart from repaying his parents, the athlete took his family with him for almost every Olympic tour. Recently, the five-time Olympic medalist also shared some hilarious anecdotes about his family while on Olympic tours.

Shaun White shares a hilarious memory of his family

On July 26, Shaun White was invited to the launch of the Ralph Lauren and La28 custom emblems for the 2028 Olympics. And in an interview with the People the athlete, while talking about his journey at the Olympics, shared a hilarious moment with his family. White revealed that his family has always made a big party out of their Olympic trips and stated a funny incident during one of his Olympic games. “When I competed in Italy, they were like, ‘All right, we’re going to start in Spain, and then we’re going to work our way over to here.’ They turned it into this giant traveling road show,” Further, the athlete added, “My aunt fell off a scooter in Barcelona, and everybody’s all scraped up, and then they finally get to the Olympics, and I see them and I’m ready, and they’re just haggard.”

White also disclosed to the media that he was low-key sad about his family enjoying the trip while he had to face all the pressure. But now, after retiring from the games, the athlete can be seen traveling a lot. White is an avid traveler who usually goes on vacation with his girlfriend, Nina Dobrev.

White and Dobrev, who started their relationship during COVID, made their relationship stronger by traveling during the pandemic. The couple who couldn’t be around people traveled to the wilderness and explored nature together. Since then, the gushing couple can be seen going on trips all the time. In May, White revealed to the media that the couple spent Christmas in Cabo, New Year’s in Antarctica, and Dobrev’s birthday in Indonesia.

Shaun White also appreciated Dobrev for being a good traveling companion, as the eight-time Olympic gold medalist stated that the Vampire Diaries’ actress is “so dialed in ‘‘ and always knows what places to visit and which restaurants to visit. From touring for the Olympics and creating new memories with his family to traveling with the love of his life to satisfy his wanderlust, Shaun White has come a long way.
