The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics is just around the corner. While Athletes are preparing themselves for a tough competition, Mark McMorris is a favorite for the slopestyle competition. Previously, he won two bronze medals, to the delight of the fans. Now, in a remarkable feat, he broke Shaun White’s existing X Games record to put himself in the driving seat.

McMorris became a six-time X Games medalist in the slopestyle competition, moving ahead of White’s five medals. Now, he will look to grab his first Olympic medal, heading to the Winter Olympics in China.

Mark McMorris breaks Shaun White’s record

The Canadian snowboarder is one of the best athletes in the world. He continues to win medals in different competitions and showcases his talents everywhere. Notably, his latest victory was a reminder of the record-breaking success he has achieved in the X Games competition. When asked about his dreams of finally winning an Olympic medal, McMorris expressed his plans of going big next month.

“Of course it’s something that I really want to get, and it’s something I know I can get. But it’s not going to make or break me,” said McMorris.

The talented snowboarder landed a switch backside triple cork 1620 stalefish, frontside triple cork 1440 Weddle, and a backside triple cork 1620 Indy in his run to grab the medal. With an impressive set of competitors fighting for first place, McMorris won ahead of Red Gerard and Marcus Kleveland to bring home the medal. Thus, heading to China, he is one of the favorites to land the gold medal.

The legendary Shaun White will appear in his fifth Olympics in February. Opting to not compete at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, he has waited for this moment, practicing his skills for the competition. While McMorris has not won a gold medal yet, White has won three. His dominance in the half-pipe competition is incredible, as he is always one of the favorites to land the title. Certainly, White will be aiming for his 4th gold medal now.
