How do you feel when you reach the top of the slope you’ve been climbing for years? Elated, surely! That’s exactly how 24-year-old halfpipe celebrity Chloe Kim must feel right now. The 2x Olympic gold medalist snowboarding celebrity won the gold at the Winter X Games 2025 Aspen SuperPipe. With that, she has bagged eight golds in the event at the X Games, tying with the iconic Shaun White‘s record. Something absolutely worth celebrating, right?
Despite retiring years ago, Shaun White remains the benchmark in the snowboarding world. With multiple gold medals to his name, the 38-year-old boasts a record arguably unrivaled. Matching his medal tally in any way is thus a truly seminal feat that should be lauded. But Chloe Kim isn’t one to ignore her personal life amidst the jubilation.

Chloe Kim thinks the latest feat could hinder her love life
On January 26, the official ESPNW social media account took to Instagram to hail the Mammoth Mountain Ski and Snowboard club member for her towering achievement. “Chloe Kim made history in more ways than one with her EIGHTH X Games gold medal, tying Shaun White for most superpipe titles and passing her mentor Kelly Clark for most women’s superpipe golds at the X Game,” reads the emphatic caption of the post. The post also notes how her eighth gold makes Kim the “winningest woman in X Games Superpipe history.” But the snowboarder had a different agenda.

In the comments section of the social media update, Chloe arrived with an earnest request. Highlighting how the first pic of the post might make her come off as older than she is, she appealed solemnly, “Guys this is awesome but I’m literally single rn so help a girl out with these pics.” While it’s understandable, why her alarms went flying after ESPN’s post, Kim could still barely hold back her glee.
“I am having so much fun…I really did not enjoy snowboarding for a couple of years. I think this year I really wanted to change that,” she said after her historic win at the Buttermilk Mountain. Chloe Kim scored 93.33 points in the Superpipe, showcasing her dominance in the halfpipe once again.
With her win, she also defended her title with gusto. But Kim isn’t the only star who has towered over Shaun White’s figures at this year’s Winter X Games.

Shaun White’s wobbly high throne after the 2025 Winter X Games
Australian snowboarder Scotty James has his own boasting rights after an incredible Winter X Games performance. Winning the gold in men’s superpipe in Aspen, again, James became the first-ever male snowboarder to win the hardware in four consecutive X Games, a feat even Shaun White doesn’t have. With the victory, the 30-year-old is only one away from matching the American’s gold medal tally.

If Scotty can maintain his momentum for a few more years, one would suspect he has more than a good chance of surpassing White to become the new standard in men’s SuperPipe at the X Games. “Just winning a gold medal is amazing here at X Games, and to do four in a row, I am absolutely speechless,” James told the media later.
For Chloe Kim, onwards and upwards are the only ways ahead.
