Shaun White finds inspiration in Jake Burton
Jake Burton Carpenter is one of the pioneers in promoting snowboarding and is famous for his modern-day snowboards. He founded the iconic Burton snowboard companies and most of the top-athletes like White and Hirano use these boards. Moreover, in 1983, he convinced the Stratton Mountain ski resort in Vermont to open its slopes for snowboarders.
The snowboards became a commodity that everyone wanted their hands on as they reached $1 million in sales in 1984. Hence, White spoke about being able to be the next Burton with his own snowboards company.
“I was seven years old when I first got me, I actually got my first snowboard from Jake Burton, who unfortunately passed away recently. But uh, you know he gave me that start and I kept thinking wow if I could be like that for the next generation, you know some young boy or young girl. You know whoever starting up and has that spark and excitement for the sport and could be there to support with my wisdom and experiences,” said White.
Whitespace will launch different accessories for the sport and looks to inspire younger athletes. Hence, White’s new company would be incredible with the products he offers.
