Amidst all the negative news coming up these days, Shaun White has done something spectacularly positive. Great news to wake up to, as the snowboarding legend has offered a grant to a triple amputee athlete. Zach Sherman from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania had his lifelong dream fulfilled. Hence, it was a significant moment for him and White to give out this gesture.

He joined hands with the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) and helped Sherman to cover all costs of coaching, travel, and training expenses in a kind-hearted gesture. White wants Sherman to reach his goals and dreams of becoming a snowboarder and competing in various competitions.

A kind gesture by Shaun White

The icon met his favorite fan at Woodward Park City while having worked with his brand, Whitespace. He revealed how he and Sherman went up the hill on a chairlift as the two snowboarders raced down the slopes. An ecstatic White loved the experience and is glad to have met him.

“It was an amazing morning on the mountain meeting Zach, he is such an inspiration to everybody,” said White.

Significantly, White aimed to provide him with the pieces of equipment and necessary accessories to help him achieve his dreams of snowboarding. 35-year-old Sherman lost both his legs and an arm after an unfortunate motorcycle accident in 2010. As the sport had been an integral part of his life for a long time, Zach wanted to continue his passion. Hence, meeting White provided the perfect opportunity for him to recapture his passionate sport.

Sherman loved his interactions with White

A happy Sherman spoke about the experience of meeting the sensational snowboarder. He loved the time they spent together and mentioned what it felt like.

“When I was waiting at the chairlift, a snowboarder wearing all black walked up to me, lifted his goggles, and said ‘Hey dude, I’m Shaun, wanna go take some laps?’

He continued, “We entered the halfpipe and Shaun pulled off some tricks right in front of me. At the bottom, he reached in his pocket, handed me a grant award from CAF, and told me to go live out my dreams,”.

It is just a heartwarming gesture by everyone involved in awarding him the grant. Not only is White a legendary snowboarder, but he also has a beautiful heart. Kudos to White and the CAF for helping a person to continue his passion.
