“To Feel Like He Was Still With Me:” Nina Dobrev Breaks Her Silence on Shaun White’s Endearing Cross-Country Gesture During the Pandemic

The Vampire Diaries fame Nina Dobrev is a busy bee nowadays. After her global adventures with boyfriend Shaun White, Dobrev has been promoting her latest Netflix release, The Out-Laws. Just a few days back, while promoting the Pierce Brosnan and Adam Devine starer comedy/thriller, the 34-year-old sat for a long interview. Not only did she talk about her professional journey, but Dobrev also provided some glimpse into her life with White.

The Vampire Diaries star recalled a romantic gesture by White during the COVID-19 pandemic. The gesture, however, probably backfired on the 36-year-old, with whom Dobrev has been in a relationship since 2019.

Shaun White goes down a slippery slope

Fans have been curious about the exact timeline of the power couple’s relationship. They are cited to have met at a New Year’s Eve party in 2019, post which things became more official after an Instagram update in 2020. Curious about all the developments and inside details, Dobrev was asked how things started between them and how they managed things during the pandemic. The conversation steered towards White’s fun TikTok videos, particularly the one where he talked about watching ‘The Vampire Diaries.’

Breaking her silence on the matter, Dobrev said, “I was shooting a movie in Canada during the pandemic when you weren’t allowed to fly over borders. And so, that’s when he decided to watch it. To sort of like, feel like he was still with me.” The 34-year-old, and the hosts immediately started laughing when the words were out.

Fran said, “I don’t know if that works!” Dobrev replied to her, “I don’t think that he knew before he started watching it that my characters on the show, like, hook up with all the other characters on the show! I don’t know how healthy that was for him!”

While the cross-country gesture may have proven costly to White back then, their relationship has only since blossomed. Dobrev recently gave a shout-out to White for helping her audition for a project.

During her promotions for ‘ The Out-Laws’, Dobrev shared an adorable way in which the 5x Olympian helped her prepare for her new role. She said to E! News, “Fun fact, but Shaun helped me run lines for my audition.” To this co-star Adam Devine gushed, “Aw man, I wish you filmed that.”

Safe to say, fans would empathize with Devine. While Dobrev plays a soon-to-be bride in her latest flick, are there any plans for her and White? While we may not have an answer from Dobrev right away, Shaun White cleared speculations when he said to People in April, “We’re just enjoying our time together right now. No pressure”. “But you never know. We’ll see what happens,” White later slyly added.

Only time will tell when these two will finally get hitched!
