Winning became a habit. In snowboarding and skateboarding, White won many X-Games medals along with three Olympic gold medals for snowboarding. He is truly a bona fide legend. But, his telling episodes as a teenager speak volumes about his ability; to become a millionaire after turning 14.
Shaun White negotiated deals at 14
Seeing his talent, he received sponsors and endorsements at a young age. Of course, his family negotiated deals for him, but White’s conquest to become a millionaire started at school. Because the school authorities did not consider snowboarding a legitimate sport, he went pro at age 13. That proved to be the boldest decision he made.
“At 13, I went pro. So, that means you can start making money. My parents negotiated this deal for me when I was 14. So it was this major deal I landed. A million dollar deal, when I was 14, and I was like okay. That weird. Because I remember my mom came up to me and said, ‘You’re a millionaire.’ And at 14, I was like ‘Wow,'” said White, who couldn’t contain his excitement.
In an ordinary world, children reach grade nine when they are 14. White became a millionaire. Let that blow your imagination. A humble kid like him never spends that money, however. “I didn’t want anything. I didn’t want to spend it. All I wanted was skateboards and snowboards, and I had that for free,” mentioned White, who loves the sport. When one compares his rare scenario to other famous superstars, you rarely find someone who became a millionaire at that age.
Never that quick for even Arnold Schwarzenegger!

Compared to Arnold, O’Neal, and Phelps, White held a far higher advantage. Arnold won his bodybuilding contests and shifted to America. He made his first million at 21, making prudent investments in the real estate market and creating a fortune. Likewise, O’Neal received his first contract with the Orlando Magic after turning 20. He earned a contract of $3,000,000 a year, making him one of the highest-paid rookies in the NBA.
The iconic Michael Phelps received a million-dollar bonus from Speedo at age 23 when he won eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Compared to White, they took time to reach the land of roses. As for Shaun, he has a net worth of $65 million now. Retired from the sport of snowboarding, White is probably the greatest snowboarder of all time.
