White has won three Olympic titles and 15 X-Games gold medals, often referred to as the GOAT. And his outfit of choice while on the slope will surprise you.
Shaun White and his training pants
About 4 years ago, White did the ‘25 Things You Don’t Know About Me’ segment with US Weekly. Here, he revealed, “I like to snowboard wearing women’s pants.” The reason? “They’re super stretchy!”
White also shared some surprising insights about his schedule leading up to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, where he defended his halfpipe title. Where most athletes spend the day training or strategizing just a day before the competition, White “skipped practice and went kayaking”!
Though Shaun White may not have been quite as popular among his snowboarding peers, his charming on-screen personality won the hearts of the public. It is the little things like this he reveals about himself that cement him as such a likable figure.
White is a treat to watch on the slope and in interviews where he has given us some iconic and funny moments both. After all, who can forget the “I’m talking about mountain dews, baby” incident?

The legendary snowboarder started competing and winning from a very young age. He began his career at just 5 years old and turned pro by 13. With his long red hair granting him the moniker of ‘the Flying Tomato’, White started gaining popularity in the mainstream with his 2006 Torino Olympic victory.
Eventually, Shaun White garnered criticism from snowboard purists, as his mainstream success went against snowboarding’s roots in counter-culture. But White’s success in snowboarding was a statement of its own. After his second gold at the Vancouver Olympics, White showed his versatility by winning the X Games skateboarding vert. He is the only athlete to win both the Summer and Winter X Games.
