“I Can’t Even Get Over It”: Snowboarding Legend Shaun White Gave an Everlasting Memory to a High School Fangirl on Her Special Day

Beyond your wildest dreams, Shaun White, the retired snowboarding sensation, and his every fan’s Prince Charming, just proved to be one at the Mount St. Joseph Academy prom night.

Shaun White is a three-time Olympic gold medalist in snowboarding. He is the only athlete to have participated in both the Summer and Winter X Games and come away with medals. His grit and recovery during the 2006 Winter Olympics, where he won gold despite an injury, are greatly praised.

Shaun White creates the world’s best fan girl moment

Lights, music, dancing, giggling, and selfies continued until everyone in the hall came to a standstill. “Oh my goodness,” Mount Saint Joseph senior Carly Monzo gasped. Shaun White, dressed in a tux, and his band, Bad Things, appeared on the stage as the curtains rose. They performed three songs.

Monzo was ecstatic beyond measure. The cherry on top was when Monzo was asked to take the stage. She described the magical prom experience with her dream date, her favorite celebrity, saying, “I Can’t Even Get Over It.”

‘He’s so passionate,’ said Monzo. ‘Not only do I love him, his band is awesome..’ Shaun White’s presence blew her away and had a great time the rest of the prom night. White acted like a gentleman, giving yet another reason why he is adored by millions of fans.

Carly Monzo, 18, posted a four-minute video proposal on Vimeo inviting Shaun White to her high-school prom at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club, which initially appeared to be an unrealistic pursuit.

She knew the chances of him seeing the post were slim. Even if he did, the prospect of him traveling from Austria for her prom seemed highly unlikely. Nevertheless, she went ahead and posted the video. Perhaps she made a wish on a wishing tree. Shaun made a secret trip to surprise Monzo and gave her an everlasting memory.

Although the whole thing appeared to be a surprise, they began planning the day they saw the video. After all the editing, uploading, and sharing the link on Twitter, the fan girl’s quest was finally realized.
