The X Games in Aspen saw Katie Ormerod taking a bronze medal for her performances in the slopestyle competition. Since then, injury troubles have dampened her chances for an Olympic medal. She has been ridiculously unlucky with injuries, picking them up at unfortunate times. Hence, the pressure to come back and perform now lurks over how. Recently, Ormerod spoke about Simone Biles and her approach towards pressure and mental health at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

As she left citing mental health concerns, Biles’ withdrawal from the gymnastics competitions sent shock waves throughout the gymnastics fraternity. Notably, her individual move became a point of conversation globally. Hence, Ormerod loved Biles‘ brave act.
Britain snowboarder lauds Simone Biles
Taking such a bold decision was something Biles was highly appreciated for. As she prioritized her mental health and her team’s success over individual glory, Ormerod applauded her decision. Notably, she also loved the fact that she returned and won the bronze medal in that same competition.
“I’ve so much respect for Simone in the way she spoke about her struggles, I think all athletes just appreciated her talking the way she did, it gave people a really good glimpse into what our lives are really like. Most athletes don’t speak up, so to see her to do it was amazing. She’s my favourite athlete and the best in the world.”

“To see what she went through was really hard to watch, you could tell she was struggling, but her resilience to win that bronze medal on the beam was just inspiring,” said Ormerod.
Now, Ormerod is heading to Beijing in a bid to win her first Olympic gold medal. Certainly, the odds are in favor of her as she hopes to land the big prize.

Injury troubles
When injury troubles creep in for athletes, it not only takes a lot of time to recover but can also mentally drain the person. With the long list of injuries that she had in her career, it’s surely taken a lot for her to get back to the best of her abilities. She fractured her heel a year back and understandably, the road to recovery has not been an easy one.

Notably, she will compete in the slopestyle and Big Air events in China. Both these events are very dangerous as it takes a toll on the human body and mind. Regardless, Ormerod will hope to perform remarkably well in this year’s Winter Olympics and return home, safe and sound, with a medal to show off as well.
