“Everybody Is Kind of Playing Matchmaker”- Shaun White Once Had a Huge Crush on Olympic Figure Skating Star

Back in the days when snowboarding legend Shaun White was just beginning to be everyone’s favorite, he had a variety of experiences to be cherished for a lifetime. His first Olympic gold at Torino Games in 2006 was the beginning of an incredible snowboarding journey. However, gold isn’t the only thing he was seeking in the Italian city of Turin. As per reports, he was also hoping to catch a glimpse of his figure skating crush at the Olympics.

Snowboarding legend Shaun White bid farewell to the sport he dominated for almost 20 years at the Beijing Winter Olympics. But his contribution to defining snowboarding for what it is today will be remembered forever. He is indeed one of the very few athletes in the world who became larger than the sports phenomenon in their respective fields.

Who was Shaun White’s figure skating crush?

During the Turin Games, while Shaun was still celebrating his unbelievable victory in the halfpipe event, he revealed he was also hoping to meet his crush in Italy. The American figure skater and Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen was the one who mesmerized the snowboarding legend at the time. He said, “I’m reading the article, and I was like, she’d be cool to meet … and I told some people about it, thought I could see her event or something like that.”

Since Shaun was the champion of the team, everyone tried to help on the matter. He further added, “everybody is kind of playing matchmaker,” and he would “see what happens.”

Shaun White eventually met his crush

Well, Shaun’s wish to meet his crush finally came true. Talking about her side of the story, Sasha said, “I hung out with him at the end, the closing ceremonies, but by then there had been a lot of back and forth through USA Today and blah, blah, blah, before we even met. And nothing more exciting to tell, unfortunately.”

Besides the fact that they’ve got a couple of pictures together, there is no proof of how far these two athletes took their likeness to each other. Perhaps only one of them could tell in detail about what happened next.
