Lance Armstrong has had one of the most debatable careers. During the 2000s, he was among the top-paid athletes. For a person who was considered a gifted cyclist, no one expected the shocking end of his career. The doping charges were the last nail in the coffin of his flamboyant career. The charges took away everything he earned. However, what hurt his fans more was his attitude during the investigation.

Lance Armstrong was at the peak of his career when the charges came to the surface. His massive fanbase wasn’t even ready to believe in any such allegations. The support was visible in Lance’s impolite behavior during the trial. Lance himself condemned his attitude in an interview.

Lance Armstrong got in a verbal spat with the officer

The former cyclist was giving an interview to NBC in 2019 about his career’s trajectory. During the interview, he reflected back on various instances during the interrogation of doping charges. He expected that his behavior and approach were unacceptable. He told the interviewer that his answers during the SCA deposition in 2005 were embarrassing. “My answers at the sca deposition, Smug, Arrogant, Dishonest,” he told about his answer.

Lance further added that he always thinks about his children whenever that video comes across. He said, “I always think about my kids when I see that video. It’s embarrassing.” During the deposition, the officer was re-confirming Lance’s statement. But Lance didn’t seem to take it lightly. Instead, he gave some abrupt answers to the officer.

Lance Armstrong feels his attitude was the root problem

In 2012, the UCI banned Lance Armstrong and stripped him from all seven tours de France titles. Lance’s Oprah interview in 2013 grabbed the global limelight. Lance has never justified his actions after his suspension and wanted to correct the mistake if ever possible. “I’d love to go back in life and have a few do-overs”, he admitted.

He believes that his attitude and outspoken nature made him the target. “I don’t get investigated and sanctioned if I don’t act the way I acted,” He told NBC. “I couldn’t figure it out until it really happened,” he added. The cycling legend told that it had taken him years of introspection and therapy to clear out his thoughts and accept things the way they are.
