It was hard for her to believe for the silver lining after Mikaela Shiffrin was besieged by the dark clouds in the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. But all she did was keep going amidst all the disappointments and setbacks that came her way. Finally, her tireless efforts have brought her some good news in months.

After the Beijing Winter Olympics, the two-time Olympic gold medalist was in a lot of pressure regarding her world number standings. However, by securing a place at the podium today, she brushed off that fear out of her way like a true champion.
Mikaela Shiffrin back at the podium
Mikaela secured the second position in the super-G event today at Lenzerheide Course while her rival Petra Vlhova finished at 18th position and the first place was backed by the French skier, Romane Miradoli.
With this victory, she now has an impressive lead in the World Cup’s overall standings. In the overall standings, she is leading with 67 points now and her fight for the top will resume with Vlhova on Sunday in the giant slalom.

This victory is special in so many ways. It was the one thing she needed the most at this point time. Now that she is back in her top game, everything else will be fine.
Mikaela was on the verge of losing her world number one position

Before today’s super-G event, she was in a do-or-die position with the same 1,026 total World Cup points as her rival Petra Vlhova. It was an enormous challenge for Mikaela, provided the criticism she was facing after her performance in the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. However, with today’s performance, she is back at the top.

She is undoubtedly an incredible skier but has seen a lot of critical moments in the past couple of days. This victory is the answer she was seeking for the past month. It would be interesting to see how she proceeds from here on.
