While snowboarding has Chloe Kim, skiing is dominated by Mikaela Shiffrin. She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, who is currently hoping to slalom her way to a third Olympic medal at this year’s Beijing Winter Olympics. However, with the incredible number of competitors across the event, it won’t be a straightforward task for her this time around.

In her last race before the Winter Olympics, Shiffrin did not have a great run as she finished fifth in the World Cup giant slalom competition. She lost her place to Swedish alpine skier, Sara Hector, who put on a brilliant performance herself. However, Shiffrin seems focused on the end goal, putting aside this recent setback.
“We fully shift focus”- Mikaela Shiffrin
The focus required for the Olympics is incredible, given the stature of the Games. The winners at the Olympics train hard for four years for one competition and its value cannot be underestimated.
Shiffrin won her first gold medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics for the slalom competition. After that, she won the 2018 giant slalom competition at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics. Now, despite her 5th place finish at the world cup, she stays determined to repeat her heroics of the past at the mega games.
“Unfortunately today’s race may have been a very big decider in the GS globe. But I suppose that “race” is not over yet so I’ll keep pushing. Now we fully shift focus to the #Olympics. Next stop: @Beijing2022,” she wrote on Twitter.
