Mikaela Shiffrin edging closer to the World Cup title
After being placed sixth, Shiffrin provided a fantastic second run that saw her finish in third place. As for Hector, her second run wasn’t as memorable as she failed to make it to the podium. Due to that, she reduced her concrete lead of 55 points to just 5 points now. Acknowledging her effort, Shiffrin gave a special mention to Hector in her Instagram post, stating how she deserved to win a place on the podium.
Shiffrin said, “I’m happy with a podium to fight back a few spots in challenging conditions on the second, but I also know that really could have and probably should have been @sarahector’s spot so let’s cross our fingers that she is not too beaten up.”

As Vlhova won the World Cup Overall last year, Shiffrin is coming back to claim her thrown in recent events. She has won the event overall three times from 2017 to 2019 and is looking to claim her fourth.
This would tie her up with Lindsey Vonn while she would trail Annemarie Moser-Pröll by just two as she won six titles during the 1970s. It has all the ingredients to become one of the best finishes in recent times.
