American Born Chinese Gold Medalist Spotted With Lionel Messi as She Wins Laureus Action Sports of the Year

Freestyle skier Eileen Gu recently received the Action Sportsperson of the Year award in Paris. Elated at this huge honor at the age of 19, the Olympic champion was over the moon. Posing with Lionel Messi, the Olympic gold medalist was all smiles and gave a glimpse of this special moment with Messi and her award on Instagram.

Dressed in a gorgeous full-length lavender gown, Gu held the award, proud of being the first freestyle skier to receive this honor. Posing with Messi who received the Sportsman of the Year award, Gu was thrilled. Sharing these unforgettable moments in her recent Instagram post, Gu also gave a powerful message to fans.

In her post, Gu shared a picture where she stood on the podium at the Laureus Sports Awards in Paris to address the gathering. She also shared an image with Messi, who was dressed in a black suit, tremendously happy at receiving the Sportsman of the Year award.

Later, she also expressed her experience of winning this award at the age of 19. She captioned this recent Instagram post, “As the first freeskier to win this prestigious award, I hope to share this moment with all those involved with the sport and the industry. Knowing that young people have the power and responsibility to change the world, I want more kids (especially girls & multiracial youth!) to see representation growing and know there is a place for them here.” Gu clearly wishes to see equal representation to all sections of society in sports.

This is not the only honor the young Olympic gold medalist received. Earlier, Gu was also part of a special list by a popular American magazine. She was also featured on the cover pages of two other famous magazines.

Gu was also featured on the cover of the December 2022’s issue of Harper’s Bazaar and the January 2023 issue of Vogue magazine. The freestyle skier shared these achievements on her Instagram handle, elated at these unforgettable milestones. Her accomplishments received tremendous praise from fans.
