Skiing is a wonderful winter sport and is enjoyed by people of all ages. It is a good way of recreation and enjoying the outdoors. However, these sports also have their share of risks too. The injuries from skiing can be head injuries, muscle strain, paralysis, or even result in death. There are various stories of skiers being injured during their skiing trip.
These stories include the one of Olympians and legends of the game who during their career got injured. Many of the injuries that a skier inflicts may become severe in some cases and they affect their future life. One instance of such injury came to light recently when a man got quadriplegic after a skiing accident.
The horrific skiing accident left the skier quadriplegic

In 2021, Anthony Mouravski a young 24-year-old skier got out for skiing as usual. But, he never had thought that it would be his last day of skiing and will not be able to do it again. He was a freestyle skier and one day while skiing, he jumped into one of the maneuvers. The skier did not land well and as a result, he ended up breaking his neck. The horrific accident left him paralyzed. Anthony severely damaged his spinal cord which left him quadriplegic.
Speaking to Dailystar Anthony said, “I used to do a lot of freestyle skiing but I broke my neck doing a jump. I have shoulder and bicep muscles but limited wrist muscles and no triceps or fingers or anything else“. He remembers that his condition was condition is C5/C6 complete. This meant that he had completely severed the spinal cord. The life-changing injury affected him wholly and he was not able to walk for the next two and a half years.
Anthony is not alone got inflicted with such an injury, there are others too. For them, such injuries had a profound effect on their and family lives. For instance, in 2013, freestyle skiing coach Mike Shaw was performing a nose-butter 720 trick when he miscalculated his jump and landed on soft snow. After landing he pitched forward, his leg rose over his head and he dislocated his neck. The injury left him paralyzed. Mike was lucky, his injury could be treated with surgery. He got the surgery and is recovering steadily from the injury. It seems Anthony’s luck is too about to shine like Mark’s after hope emerged from working on the treatment.

Skier finds hope after a horrific skiing accident
Anthony Mouravski got a ray of hope appearing in mids of the darkness which gave him hope. It was in the form of an exoskeleton built by the French tech company Wandercraft. He was attached to the machine and walked into the room with the help of an assistant. During walking Anthony felt like a super soldier. Speaking on his experience of walking with the machine the 24-year-old said, “It felt extremely amazing. It was able to get me standing up within minutes.”

He further said, “It also just felt amazing for the body including my cardiovascular health and every other muscle that was activated“. The machine works by sensing the movement in the user’s body and positions itself accordingly. If the user leans the operator will stand up. The user has to move his shoulder or body for the machine to walk forward. The cost of ten sessions on this machine is £1,742. His family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to continue his treatment. After the tragic accident and two and half years of bedridden life, Anthony had got hope that one day he can walk.
