After Admitting It’s “Intimidating,” Lindsey Vonn Partners With Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to Give Her 2.2M Fans a Surprise

Lindsey Vonn continues to represent sports brands years after retiring from professional skiing. In her impressive career wins of 82 World Cup races she also emerged as the one among the six women to win in all five disciplines of alpine skiing. These categories include– downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom, and super combined. A few years back, she encountered a well-known figure who shared her passion for exercise and visits to the Iron Paradise. This marked the beginning of a lovely friendship, as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was asked about his competition and he named the swiftie on snow, Vonn.

Back then, news stories about their close bond created a buzz on the internet, while for them, that bond continued to deepen. Recently, their shared athletic brand posted a promotional video featuring Vonn wearing his design

The American Alpine skier has a long-standing relationship with the US sportswear company Under Armour. She became the brand’s first ambassador in the same month she retired, back in February 2019. Just one month later, she unveiled an upcoming project with Under Armour in partnership with Dwayne Johnson. Fast forward to the present, @underarmourwomen posted a video on Instagram featuring Lindsey as the face of their latest announcement: the women’s training shoes from the Project Rock 6 collection.

As the inaugural ambassador for Under Armour, Vonn partnered with Under Armour’s Project Rock, a collection of apparel and accessories designed by Dwayne Johnson to inspire athletes to challenge themselves and achieve their goals – a collection that now includes Vonn herself. However, going back to 2017, Vonn and Under Armour introduced a line of apparel that merged skiing with fashion. This line encompassed a variety of clothing items, strategically blending style and functionality. The range included base layers, jackets, and pants.

Beyond their shared brand association with Under Armour, the two often engage in joint workouts. While working out with Dwayne, Vonn playfully chanted “I’m paralyzed” in her Instagram video, alluding to the strenuous workout routine the Rock designed especially for her. Even though she is usually cheerful when the giant is around, the skier has to overcome such testing situations with him. Subsequently, she candidly shared her experiences of what it’s like to work out with him.

When Sports Illustrated asked “Could anyone keep up with you in the gym?” to ‘The Rock’ during their cover shoot, he simply said Lindsey Vonn’s name. This simple exchange marked the beginning of their deepening bond, even though Lindsey initially had her doubts about it. Surprised by his response, she eventually mustered the courage to join him in the gym once again. Sharing the experience of their workout, Vonn humorously remarked, “It’s definitely intimidating being in the gym [with him]. I told him that if we’re going to work out, we should focus on legs because I can’t compete with you in the arm department. Your arms are as big as my legs!” But then again, it’s ‘The Rock’ we’re talking about.”

Now things are all good in the Johnson-Vonn dynamic. Under Armour gains recognition for enlisting these iconic figures in their campaigns, while the enduring bond between the two showcases a truly beautiful friendship.
