Mikaela Shiffrin is sure a name synonymous with legend, one of the most accomplished skiers in the world with the most titles anyone wishes to earn in their entire career.

The winner of 87 World Cup titles has surpassed her fellow competitors standing tall with absolutely no one matching her skill. It looks like she’s set to make space for yet another title with her recent nomination along with the GOATs of the athletic world. 

Mikaela Shiffrin reacts to being lined up for major wins

In her recent Instagram post Shiffrin shared the 2023 ESPY Awards nominations as the “Best Athlete in Women’s Sports” and “Best Record-Breaking Performance.” Along with two pictures from her recent game with her gear on, she penned a caption, saying, “Still getting the question about this season and weather it has sunk in yet…that’s still a resounding NOPE(laughing emoji). She continued by adding, “In the company of all tall-timets and some of my favorite athletes…@djokernole, @kingjames, @maxverstappen1, @iga.swiatek…..I’m kind of dumbfounded.” 

 

The Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team member was nominated with other sports legends including LeBron James for “Best Record-Breaking Performance.” Moment of similitude between Shiffrin and Novak Djokovic with two title nominations for “Best Male Athlete” and “Best Tennis Player”. While Max Verstappen earned the “Best Driver” nomination. On July 12, 2023, a live broadcast of the ESPY Awards will be aired.

Shiffrin has broken numerous records throughout her career, making a lasting impact in the skiing world, and solidifying her place on many other prestigious award lists. Shiffrin garnered a lot of attention when the year began owing to a series of nominations, victories, and speaking engagements.

Alpine skier’s successful year both on and off the slopes

Shiffrin’s efforts earned her a spot on TIME’s list of the 100 most influential people. The focus of January was breaking Lindsey Vonn’s record of 83 World Cup victories for female skiers. With her eighth career Alpine World Championships gold medal, she won 14 medals total in world championships. In March, she clenched her fifth World Cup overall title, the biggest annual prize in Alpine skiing. She hit another benchmark by becoming the only skier in the post-World War II era to be just one medal away from breaking the 15-medal record, Shiffrin enjoys a position of power that is easily understood.

Shiffrin’s ability to push boundaries and set new standards is nothing short of spectacular. She has an incredible number of World Cup victories, medals from the World Championships, Olympic medals, and dominance in every alpine skiing discipline. Well, it’s really just another day of making space for her new shining memento. Ah! The pleasures of being the best, a feeling familiar to Shiffrin.
