Skiing resorts are great places to enjoy. They provide all amenities and sports avenues that people look for in a resort. In an effort to provide better avenues to skiing enthusiasts, a skiing resort has decided to expand its facilities. The skiing resort near Las Vegas has announced improvement projects worth 7 million dollars.
Lee Canyon, a skiing resort located in the spring mountains which is an hour’s drive distance from Las Vegas, has been operating for decades and has welcomed millions of visitors over the years. It had gone through various changes during these times to accommodate the demand of the customers. This latest project is a step in that direction.

On the 2nd of August, the Lee Canyon officials announced their 7 million dollars worth of refurbish project. The new changes will include a new quad chairlift, a new parking area, and a 500-foot Sunkid conveyor lift. The parking area will also have 450 stalls. This parking will make the entry point of the quad chairlift more convenient.
Interstingly, the new quad chairlift is called Ponderosa. The ponderosa lift will be fitted on the southeast side of the mountain. The purpose of its installation there is to provide easy access to the three intermediate runs – Foxtail Alley, Limber Pine Lane, and Bonzanza Ridge.

These changes are undertaken to accommodate the increase in footfall to the skiing resort this year. The general manager of the resort Dan Hooper said, “Lee Canyon is seeing more visitors, especially first-time and youth skiers and snowboarders“. He further said, “Collectively, these investments mean we can better serve the needs of those populations.”
The general manager explained that these changes are to better resorts visitors’ experience. In his view, the Ponderosa chair makes popular trails easy to reach and skiers will have to explore more areas. These new amenities shall be available in the 2023-24 winter season. The construction work will not affect the summer operation of Lee Canton Resort.
About Lee Canyon skiing resort
The Lee Canyon skiing resort is located in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. It was established in 1963. It contains 195 acres of terrain and 27 trails which are accessed through three chairlifts. The resort also has 50 acres of hike-to terrain and access to summer hiking trails. In a year the resort gets on average more than 161 inches of snowfall. Lee Canyon offers ski and snowboard coaching, terrain parks, and day-lodge amenities such as dining and retail. It also offers summer activities.

Thye was owned and managed by POWDR for the past twenty years. But, this year the resort was purchased by Mountain Capital Partners. The Colorado-based firm owns and manages 12 ski resorts, bike parks, and golf courses in various states.
The resort has seen an increase in footfall over the year and made changes according to demand in the past as well. The degradation was done in the 2019-2020 season which included a ski-in, hillside lodge, and food and beverages stall.

The refurbishment project is a sign of an increase in demand for the amenities and avenues provided by the resort. This project will be able to cater to their needs and fulfill their demands and attract new visitors to the resort.
