Michael Schumacher, an F1 legend who has the joint record for the most world titles, retired officially from the sport after his 2012 season. However, only one year after his retirement, the athlete faced a horrific accident while skiing. It’s been ten years since the accident, and Schumacher is still on thin ice.

In December 2013, Michael Schumacher’s life completely changed its course. The seven-time world champion, while skiing with his son Mick Schumacher in a French ski resort, fell and hit his head with a rock. Michael, who had just retired from the sport, suffered brain trauma and went into a coma.

Even after ten years, the German racer has not fully recovered yet. The Schumacher enthusiasts are still not sure if the athlete has come out of a coma. Michael’s wife, Corinna Schumacher has kept his medical condition private. According to Sports Manor, only a few people close to the family have revealed minor details about the athlete.

In 2020, Erich Riederer, a neurosurgeon stated,  “I think he’s in a vegetative state, which means he’s awake but not responding. Further, the neurosurgeon claims that “his heart is beating; he can probably sit up and take baby steps with help,” but sadly that is the maximum the former Ferrari driver can do. Eddie Jordan, an Irish businessman, and former F1 team owner, revealed that Schumacher is “there but not there.Jordan also talked about the effect of Michael’s accident on the family.

According to Eddie Jordan, Michael Schumacher’s wife, Corinna Schumacher, “is like a prisoner”. The German animal rights activist, due to constant media coverage, has not been able to leave the house. Moreover, Corinna has not been able to go out with friends to parties or dinners, as everyone would talk to her about her husband’s accident.
