Skiing and snowboarding on the thick icy blanket sound fun, right? Well, for a Seattle-based snowboarder, skiing on the snow-covered alps of Mt. Baker turned out to be fatal, as he fell prey to the tree well and got buried head-first beside the tree wall. However, the side-country skier, Francis Zuber, came right on time to the man’s rescue and saved him from the unprecedented consequences.
On March 3rd, Zuber was shredding down Washington’s glacier-covered andesitic mountain called Mt. Baker with a friend. He was making a zig-zag trail between the trees when he noticed a snowboard sticking up out of the snow. The skier realized that someone got stuck inside the tree well in an upside-down position. What came next is a heroic rescue operation to extricate the man from the dense region.

While skiing down the mountain, Zuber started recording his spree on his go pro attached to his head. As he was moving down the alps, he saw a snowboarder trapped in a tree well. In a reflex, he immediately started digging the area to extricate the man from the snow clutches. He later shared the rescue operation on his YouTube channel and left the skiing fanatics to ponder over the fatal consequences of snowboarding.
As per the video, as he digs the well with his hands, Zuber could be heard asking the snowboarder, “You alright?”. Receiving no response, he then quickly turns and starts packing the snow with his ski gear to make a way over to the tree well where the man can be seen buried. Once he moved closer to the snowboarder, he consoled the man by saying, “Hold on, I’m coming”.

He kept digging until he finally reached the snowboarder’s head and tried to dust off snow from the man’s face to get him some air. Then he again asked the man, “You alright? Can you hear me?”. At first, there was no response, but after a while, the snowboarder can be seen moving his arm. “OK, you’re good, I got you. Alright, we’re both going catch our breath for a second, then I’m going dig you out with my shovel”, added Zuber.
Interestingly, the snowboarder expressed his gratitude toward Zuber while he was still inside the well. On this, Zuber responded, “Yeah, no problem”. Then he continued his prompt of digging the well with his shovel to rescue the man from the density. Fortunately, after performing an extensive digging operation, Francis Zuber succeeded in extricating the man from the deadly snow well.
