Alpine skiing legend Mikaela Shiffrin has been braving through boyfriend Aleksander Kilde’s ordeals with remarkable poise for months. A life-threatening crash earlier this year left the Norwegian unable to ski for months, and Shiffrin has been by his side since. However, it seems like their difficult days are finally behind them.

Over her illustrious career, the two-time Olympic gold medalist has had her fair share of trysts with injuries. However, seeing Kilde suffer from the mishap brought out a side of her that was previously unknown to her fans. Now, with Aleksander’s rehab journey coming to its end, the happy couple is welcomed home with an unexpected gift.

In her recent Instagram story, Shiffrin shared news of her reuniting with Kilde. Their return was commemorated by sports merchandise giant Oakley with a special gift, too! The seven-time World Championships gold medalist shared the original IG post by Oakley, captioned “Welcome home,” as Shiffrin and Kilde can be seen posing side by side in the picture. Mikaela has been taking care of the 2022 Beijing Olympics silver medalist ever since the former met with the accident, and naturally, they can’t stop beaming as they look forward to happier days ahead.

In another story, Shiffrin can be seen signing a poster of herself that reads “8ES7 EVER.” The wordplay takes a cue from the time when Mikaela set a new World Cup record last year with her 87th win. The fun times didn’t end there as another of her stories shows the couple unboxing new shades from Oakley. The Mr. and Mrs. sunglasses look uber cool, and the fact that these came in custom wrappings based on the duo’s individual nationalities, makes the gifts all the more unique.

The couple has crossed the troubled pasture with grace and patience and has been setting new couple goals for everyone else.
