Although, the skier has attended various events, including numerous award ceremonies, the athlete had never gotten a chance to go to a homecoming dance.
She recalls this amazing experience during her visit to the Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy in 2011. While she was having lunch at the sports academy, a 15-year-old boy approached Vonn and asked her out.
Lindsey Vonn and her amazing proposal
The boy, Parker McDonald, attended the same school she visited. The teenager, also a skier, went up to Vonn to ask a question. And on that eventful day, had his wish fulfilled.
He wanted to ask her out to an upcoming homecoming event, as he did not have a date. The three-time Olympic medalist had never attended homecoming until then. So the prospect of attending the dance thrilled Vonn. She accepted the young boy’s proposal to attend the homecoming, which was the very next evening.
She posted about it on Facebook the next day. In the post, she reconfirmed attending the event with him later that evening.
Her Facebook post read, ‘Yesterday I visited the Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy and while I was eating lunch with all the students a 15 year old boy named Parker asked me if I would be his date for their homecoming dance which is tonight. When Parker asked me he was cute, nervous and very polite so of course I said YES! All through school growing up I never got the chance to go to a school dance so I’m excited for tonight! 🙂 xo LV’

That day, both had their wishes fulfilled. The skier who never went to a homecoming finally got to attend one, while the young boy had a celebrity for a date. It just goes to show that sometimes it is enough to simply ask.
However, in her post, she mentioned that she agreed to go with him because he “was cute, nervous and very polite.”
