This event will be about skateboarding and BMX. In Ramps & Reels, the professional skater and BMX riders will be performing on a large ramp. The skaters will also be doing street skating on the streets of Dobeny Village. And after the day activities at evening movies will be played in the village. To follow the aesthetic of the event vintage movie Back to the Future and the skateboarding film We Are Blood will be played in the two-day event respectively. Food and beverage stalls will also be available for the bystanders.

In an interview with Dana Point Times, Jeff Rosaler, Deputy Director of Community Services, while talking about the event, stated, This will be the first event that the city’s produced in Doheny Village, and it’s the first of hopefully more to come. We are supporting the local businesses down there, working closely with a lot of them, and we’re appreciative of the support that they’ve given us to do the event down there.”

This event will be promoting both street skating and vert skating and for vert skating and BMX, a 13-foot-tall ramp will be placed. However, only motorcycle racers and professional skaters can perform on the large ramp. Marbo productions founder Bonaventura, excited about vert skating, stated “With street skating, it’s a lot harder if you don’t know what you’re watching, to watch and know what’s going on, With vert skating, the size of the ramp and how high they are in the air, the noise of it, it’s just captivating.”

At this event, Olympic athlete Mykel Larrin and BMXer Manuel Gatica will show off their skills on the vertical ramp. Besides them, Josh Borden, three-time X Games participant Ruby Liley, and Thailand-based skater Brian Upapong will also participate. This event will be hosted by Christian Hosio, a professional skater popular for his skills on the ramp. The skater will also skate a few runs in this highly anticipated event. According to Rosaler, this idea for Ramps & Reels came from Hild, founder of REDO Market, located in Doheny Village.
