The skateboarding legend Tony Hawk has had several injuries in his lifetime. However, it’s not that Tony cares about any of them. His passion for skateboarding is certainly beyond any fear of injury. Perhaps this is the reason that at the age of 53, he is still as great a skateboarder as he was 20 years back.

Tony Hawk talks about his worst skateboarding injury

In an interview with Jackass star Steve-O, the skateboarding legend revealed the most terrible injury he suffered during his career. Tony recalled the “Loop of Death,” he attempted during an appearance on the MTV’s ‘Wildboyz.’ He said, “The problem was that the starting ramp was too slow, and so I tried to overcompensate on the starting ramp and that sent me into the wrong position for the loop.”

Further recalling the incident, he added, “I ended up shooting out through the loop flying through and landing on my hip and my head. I was knocked out and I realized that I shouldn’t have taken the loop for granted. That one was pretty ugly and life-threatening.”

A terrible injury indeed

It was not a normal fall, but the skateboarding legend suffered serious physical damage. He broke his thumb, and pelvis, and fractured his skull. The accident was so horrible that he didn’t even want his kids to see him at the moment. The crew member had to carry him on a stretcher to the hospital.
