The dream of every rodeo and one of the oldest rodeo events, the Cheyenne Frontier Days has concluded. The event saw many records being shattered and new ones being made. For the third time in its entire history of the rodeo event, three rodeos were crowned with the ‘Daddy of ‘em All’ title.
In all those memorable records a cowboy from Coleman, Texas, managed to achieve his individual best at the prestigious event. In his short career, the steer wrestler has made his name in the rodeo world. Walt Arnold carries a similar name to the Hall of Fame rodeo but the young rodeo is on course of his own path of glory.
Walt Arnold ranks third at the Cheyenne Frontier Days

Walt Arnold arrived at the event after an impressive performance at the Central Wyoming Fair and PRCA Rodeo. In Casper, he secured the second position in the first round and finished fourth on average overall in the event. Prior to that, he tied for the sixth position at the Sheridan Wyoming Rodeo. The continuous development in his performance gave him the motivation to give his best at the Cheyenne Frontier Days.
At the event, he started well and managed to enter the second semi-final of steer wrestling after securing the second position in his third performance of the round. In the semis, he continued to progress and raise his competitive standard and secured third place to qualify for the finals. In the final, he secured third place with a time of 6.7 seconds and earned $5,100. The first position went to Eli Lord who finished with 5.9 seconds and $6,900 in earnings. The second position went to Tristan Martin with a time of 6.6 seconds and $6,000 in earnings.

Walt Arnold’s rodeo journey
Walt Arnold got his rodeo genes from his father who was a steer wrestler. He had a lot of good memories of traveling with his father to rodeo events. He became a PCRA member in 2017. His first rodeo event was San Angelo Rodeo. The cowboy finished 2018 at 190th position in the world ranking and $5,253 in earnings. Later on, he steadily rose and in 202 he finished at 40th position in the world ranking and $17,909 in earnings.

But he had a bad year in 2021 and slipped to 55th position in the world ranking. Next year he rose to prominence once again and became College National Finals Rodeo Steer Wrestling Champion. In the same year, he also won Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Frontier Day and Rodeo. This year he won the GladewaterRound-Up Rodeo. His current world ranking is 20th in steer wrestling.
