Bull riding is a famous rodeo sport but is also the most dangerous. There are many instances where athletes have to lose their lives riding the bucking beast. Its danger intrigues and the challenge it poses to people. There are also cases where the athlete survived near-fatal injuries and come back to the arenas to try their luck again.
Marcus Mast, the 29-year-old bull rider from Indiana is one of the cases. The rider had participated in extra-outs events for his Kansas City Outlaws team in Kansas City where he scored an epic point. It was an emotional win because he managed to get the perfect score after recovering from a gruesome injury that might have left him dead.

Marcus Mast has registered his name in the events best after scoring an epic 90-point ride at the extra-outs event in the PBR team series outlaws days 2023. Marcus was riding Hoka Hey, the bull who has an 81-buck-off percentage. But, that didn’t deter him to give his perfect ride and his team Kansas City Outlaws won the event. It was a huge score to make but all that came after surviving a horrific injury that could cost his life.
Marcus Mast decided to participate in an amateur bull riding event in North-East Pennsylvania. He gathered all the things and arrangements in his truck and was to celebrate his wife’s birthday the next day by floating in the river. On the day of the event, he started as usual but could hold on to the bull and buck off it during which his fingers struck. The bull kept running and bucking with Marcus dragging onto the ground. The bull stepped on him whenever he tried to get up.
Speaking on the ordeal Marcus said, “I mean it just kept going and my fingers didn’t want to come up“. The bull had stuck him in the most dangerous place, his throat. Marcus said, “Stepped on my throat and tore it open“. The caretakers immediately fitted a bunch of gauze in his throat and transferred him to the medical facility. The doctors informed him that his main artery was fractions of inches away and if the bull have struck it he wouldn’t be alive. Marcus was lucky to survive and has come back to continue his bull-riding journey.

Marcus Mast the cowboy from Indiana is a talented bull rider who steadily moved up in the ranks in PBR Unleash the Beast series. Currently, his Unleash the Beast rank is 37 and 180.5 Unleash the Beast points. In the beginning, he never thought of bull riding but got attracted to it after watching his elder brother do it. After participating in amateur events Marcus started participating in PBR events.

His first PBR event was in 2013 at [13-268] Guthrie, OK. After that, he participated in Madison PBR Invitational in 2015 where he finished in fifth position earning $1,094. His first win at a PBR event was at Rainsville Bull Bash in 2019 where he earned $4,322. Marcus has been competing at the highest level and progressed in the PBR since his start. He has ten event wins in his career to date in 117 rides. He has one 90-point ride and has earned $218,000 to date.
Marcus Mast’s injury and recovery story is unbelievable and the courage and strength he has shown in his comeback shows he has a lot to give in this season.
