The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Team Series is a rodeo event that features teams of bull riders competing against each other in a series of matches. Each rival strives to finish at the top of the leaderboard with an 8-second bull ride in a 5-on-5 riders team. One of the greatest teams in the spotlight this season is the Austin Gamblers, who had an incredible 2022 season.

On Monday evening once the gates opened, Austin’s fresh Brazilian face returned to work scoring perfect numbers. At the ‘World’s Largest Outdoor Rodeo and Western Celebration’, the two-time PBR World Champion shone as a gem. The dramatic triumph of the Austin Gamblers over the Kansas City Outlaws in Cheyenne was a definite display of their skilled mounted men. The team defeated the defending champs with a spectacular score of 2-0 with an impressive lineup reported by PRB. Both teams put up a spirited fight against the stiff competition, but the Austin Gamblers’ exceptional effort allowed them to take the top spot. Leme defeated the Missouri Thunder in the first game, winning 89.25 to 0 in an emphatic win. Texas became the first club to secure two victories by blanking both the Oklahoma Freedom and the Kansas City Outlaws in the second game. Qualifying rides in their PBR Team debuts, the Texas Rattlers benefit from the rookies Creek Young and Dawson Gleaves. At the top with the event’s first 90-point is Gamblers captain José Vitor Leme. Closest to Leme’s numbers stood Kansas City Outlaws duo Wingson Henrique da Silva on I’m Legit Too recording 88.25 points. Third on the tally was the winning team’s Dalton Kasel riding Whatever with 86.50 points.

The Austin Gamblers ate and left no breadcrumbs scoring a whopping 347.5-87.5, It’s like history all over again. The Gamblers’ wins put them in an advantageous spot in the season increasing pressure on the Cowboys and Freedom to match them. At this time last year, the 145-year-old Cheyenne Frontier Days venue saw a fantastic 16-12 score from the Gamblers. Before the start of the season, the team even signed all 11 riders on their roster. Leme’s purse holds $1,080,500 from last year as one of the largest athlete contracts in league history, and it helped the league achieve another notable milestone this year.

Rodeo event earns its significance

This is the first time in PBR Teams’ history that an event has had successive double-shutouts. A double-shutout occurs when one team wins in a match without any other qualified rides from the other team. Hence, no other rider from the opposing side could maintain control of their bull for eight seconds. The double shutout marks an exceptional feat in the sport owing to its rare occurrence. The matchoff marked the fourth double-shutout in league history while being the third to take place in Cheyenne.
