With the rising popularity of rodeo events in America, more and more youngsters are engaging in it. Since rodeo events combine fun, entertainment, culture, and tradition, it’s hard for the enthusiasts to resist a delightful display. At a recent rodeo event in Woodford County’s Kentucky High School Rodeo Association, spectators witnessed several youngsters in action.
Amidst several high school goers taking part in this exclusive rodeo event, there was one who was making his debut. The Central High School Freshman clinched a strong finish, alongside competitors older than her. The achiever also admitted that the best part of these competitions is she can travel to different places.

The CHHS freshman had her ambitions up high while she cruised through to bag fourth place in the event. Harmony Leasor recognized her love for the sport when she was five, and there has been no stopping since then. According to her trainer, experimenting with techniques and extracting fun out of the toughest discipline is her forte. Her trainer Marlene Lucas said, “She’s fun to work with; she’s got a lot of drive and ‘want to.’ He added, “She’s a 13-year-old, so she has 13-year-old moments sometimes that are awesome and we love her for it.”
Training Harmony for quite a while, Lucas seemed confident about the trainee’s track record. In Versailles, the 13-year-old athlete carried the American flag during the rodeo opening ceremony for the first time. In line with her travel freak self, the trainee-trainer has traveled to several places. Mississippi, Oklahoma, Texas, and Las Vegas are some of them.

Harmony went candid in an after-match interview, saying, “The most challenging thing is definitely the work and moving with the horses and thinking as one with the horse.” Training with her sisters in the arena, Harmony has dreamt big with his family’s support.

Familial support speaks the most
Training alongside sisters Olivia and Riley, Harmony had overcome her fears with time. Her trainer Lucas expressed immense mirth in admitting that watching the three of them working and getting along together is a treat. Her mother, Shonda Leasor, confesses some of Harmony’s struggles to balance grades and practice simultaneously.
Without a doubt, Mrs. Leasor takes pride in her daughter’s ability to ace all the areas perfectly. Her family’s farm made her job easy, therefore, she scooped stalls, rode, fed the horses, and gathered more confidence within. Shonda further added that three daughters being at the same aport also enhanced their communication skills.

Besides Rodeo, Harmony had also represented West Hardin Middle School in archery, a passion she had developed recently. She volunteers at Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland, and is also a member of FFA.
