The  National High School Rodeo Championship is underway. Participants from all around the world have arrived at the prestigious event. This event is a place where young high school talents participate to show their skill and experience competing at the highest level. This year a girl from Ainsworth, Nebraska pulled an unbelievable feat that stunned the rodeo community.

The seventeen-year-old Kieley Walz was participating in a breakaway roping event, where her parents were also present to support her. It seems their encouragement has influenced their daughter to make a record at the event. Prior to her incredible performance girls from her state shone at the junior high school championship. At the high school level, it was her time.

Cowgirl leaves the rodeo community surprised

The National High School Rodeo Championship is being held at Gillette, Wyoming. Kieley Walz won the breakaway roping world title at the National High School Finals. The cowgirl has done it with style. In the initial round, she roped her calf in just 1.97 seconds and qualified for the second round. In the second round, she pulled a surprise by posting the fastest time of the week at 1.95 seconds. She was the only rodeo to do it below two seconds at the event.

After winning she said, “It was very heartwarming“. She further talked about her family support adding, “The second I got out of the arena, my dad got super emotional, my mom was super emotional. It was very heartwarming to know they were all there”.  Talking about the cowgirl, one reporter said that “She makes it look so easy“.

Cowgirl arrived with a competitive mindset

Kieley Walz arrived at the event with a winning mindset. She had hours and hours of practice, worked on her technique, and prepared her herself mentally. During the week of the event, she spent her time with friends to relax mentally. She also roped the bale with her dad to perfect her skill under his guidance and took notes on every calf during the performances.

At the time of the rope, the cowgirl visualized her plan and technique that she will apply while warming on her horse. In the box, her dad would talk to her about her plan and give her a pep talk. Before her first rope, she talked to herself and said, “Just do the best you can, don’t overthink it, never safety up.” In the second rope, she was nervous about the calf. She could feel her blood pumping all over her body, but she managed to pull the incredible and broke her own first record.
