San Diego is known to have a rich history surrounding the California Cowboys. However, the rodeo enthusiasts have had a difficult time having to attend one all the way in Poway or Lakeside. But coming to the rescue, the Petco Park stadium on Tuesday, announced its plans to bring a rodeo show to San Diego.
According to the news reports from September 5th, The renowned stadium is adding yet another sport to host on its list. In collaboration with C5 Rodeo Company Inc. and Outriders Present, who have been masters at producing notable rodeos, Petco Park will be hosting the showdown in Jan the coming year.
Petco Park’s Journey towards its First Rodeo

The Petco Park has been a soaring venue for multiple hotshot events. With the most popular one being Baseball, Petco Park has also set its foot into host concerts, motocross, football, and even Golf. And adding to its growing list, the stadium will be hosting its first-ever rodeo show; from the 12th to the 14th of January.
According to Abc 10News San Diego, Padres CEO Erik Greupne said “We look forward to welcoming fans from all over the country to Petco Park for a true rodeo experience in the heart of San Diego.“. The partnering organizations are ready to provide a solid foundation for the event, considering their history with the rodeo and their current positions. C5 Rodeo Co., one of the organizations, is known for being one of the largest horse suppliers in North America. While Outriders Present produces rodeo and independent country music events across California and Montana.
Jonny Shockey, the founder of the Outsiders Present, stated that he believes the city embodies a culture suitable for the organization and the event. He further also stated that with the upcoming event, they aim to produce a world-class Rodeo.

Everything you need to know about the showdown
Beginning on the 12 of January, the event will hold the inaugural San Diego Rodeo lasting through to the 14th. Marking its start, the showdown will get to see some recognizable names in action; starting off with World Champion Stetson Wright and world record holder Rocker Steiner.
The contest will start with the 12 best rodeos on the first day. Following the results, the top 8 will compete in the semi-finals to make their place in the top 4. The finals will take place on the last day. The final 4 will then be competing to get their hands on the whooping cash prize set at $620,000.

Following the announcement, the date for the ticket sale is already out however it is subject to change. As for now, the rodeo enthusiasts can get their hands on the ticket starting September 18th. With its newest venture, the audience remains to see if the event will last to be as successful as the stadium’s previous endeavors.
