Rodeo in Worcester, Massachusetts, is a sport that is bringing in more spectators than ever before. Events conducted by the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) in the city have been met with a glowing reception. For the last four years, each of them was completely sold out with the arena packed. The spectators will have more to feast their eyes on next season. The PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour will be stopping at the DCU Center in Worcester in 2024.
Worcester will be the port of call for the Velocity Tour for just the eighth time in the sport’s history. The dates set aside for the events are February 24 and 25, 2024. Rodeo fans will have further cause for celebration. The extension of the event to two full days followed the overwhelming response from the public. Moreover, that will be the only time the PBR makes a stop in Massachusetts for the whole season.

Worcester will be the 17th stop for the Velocity Tour in 2024 as part of the PBR’s expansion series. The tour will take the best bull riding talents in Rodeo to 30 cities across 20 states. There will also be a record 11 double-up event weekends. For the length of the five-month season, the Velocity Tour will include 29 regular-season events as well.
The last iteration of the tour in Worcester saw Brandon McDowell emerge victorious. That was McDowell’s first career win. He stayed on top of the bull Crazed Addiction until the whistle blew in the first round. In the Championship round, he fell off the bull Train Station in less than three seconds. His opening round event-best points tally was enough to clinch the victory.

The PBR witnessed one of its best seasons statistically. In 2023, the Velocity Tour broke, then reset, multiple records regarding both attendance and competition. A total of 289,000 fans saw the Tour, setting 21 attendance records and selling out 17 events, according to the official PBR website. It was reportedly their most successful season.

Josh Frost became the PBR Velocity Tour Champion in 2023. He was also selected by the Carolina Cowboys as the second overall pick in the 2023 PBR Teams Draft. Frost ended the season 113.5 points ahead of runner-up Claudio Montanha, Jr. Riders will begin the Rodeo season on January 5. Corpus Christi, Texas, will host the tour finals for the third year in succession. There are also five spots on the line in the 2024 PBR World Finals.

The PBR enjoyed its best-ever season from a statistical point of view. Rodeo is drawing more spectators than ever in the city of Worcester, Massachusetts. The last time the PBR dropped in on the city, Brandon McDowell emerged with a win. Josh Frost ended the season as PBR Velocity Tour Champion. It remains to be seen if they can repeat those feats next year.
