“I Am So Sorry”: Rodeo Community Mourns the Loss of 16-Year-Old Bareback Rider, Weeks After Accident

Seeing someone go away can never be a happy moment. The rodeo community mourns the loss of a Coalgate High School student who passed away during a rodeo competition. This high school is ranked 147th in Oklahoma and is counted as one of the best-performing high schools. A tragic incident has taken place here where a 16-year-old died during the Ward Rodeo Co. Series Finals.

This has saddened the entire community. The family and friends of the deceased are devastated at their loss. The internet also shared their condolences with the school and the family members for the incident. The school was so sorry for the loss they boar. This tragic incident has had an effect on so many lives.

Coalgate High School passes away at a rodeo event 

A 16-year-old boy named Derby Gearhart died after he was thrown at the time of a bull riding competition at the McAlester Roundup Club Arena. This tragic incident shook his entire friends and family. In a video, he was seen falling off the bull and getting thrown at the ground. The bull wheeled around when Gearhart stood up. After this he ran from the arena, two bullfighters tried to run forward to ensure that the bull continued to move away from him.

On August 26, around 9:49 p.m. the patrol officers were informed that someone had been crushed by a bull and was getting in and out of consciousness. They called an ambulance and when the officers arrived at the location, the youth was lying down. Everyone was disrupted by what happened. The school authorities posted a heartfelt message on their Twitter account.

They shared a message stating, “Our hearts hurt. We have suffered a loss to our school community. This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school. especially our students.” They also stated that they will have trained professionals to assist the students with their requirements. The availability of the Oklahoma Mental Health Lifeline is also mentioned in the post. The internet also showered their heartbreaking comments in their post.
