The PBR Canada Cup Series marked an excellent opening to the year early in February. The event, making its way through 6 of its nine spots, landed at Medicine Hat, Alberta on the 14th of October. The 7th event of the season was undoubtedly sought after by the bull riding community; because a spot at the top would mean a clear chance to dominate the inching finals.

The  Co-op Place, Alberta welcomed the enthusiastic fans and the riders for a thrilling evening of the weekend. The Art’s Excavating-presented series would host the grounds to present a chance to riders to clinch a top spot; ultimately making it to the 2023 PBR Canada National Finals. As the event witnessed fierce competition, the rising Australian rider had a magnificent comeback, captivating the spectators presented and afar.

The Aussie rodeo champ inches closer to the finale

Earlier this year, Cody Fraser, succumbed to an injury at a pro rodeo in Drayton Valley. The bull rider was forced to undergo hospitalization followed by a long rehab. Nonetheless, the champ fought boldly to return strong to the arena. On the evening of the 14th, Fraser put up a spectacular performance in 2 rounds only to end at the challenge button each time.

For the first round, Fraser rode atop Blurred Lines. However, the round was considered a re-ride for the bull hipping himself. Eventually, hitting the mark, Fraser put up a score of 80-point ride. Fraser was bucked off at 7.7. for the second round atop The Remedy. Later, after revisiting the clocks, Fraser earned a total of 88.5.

The 25-year-old’s culminating score placed him beside Jake Gardner and right below the night’s champion, Jordan Hansen, for a second spot tie-up. Cody expressed that his goal all year had been to make it to the PBR Canada National Finals and on the 14th, he inched closer; earning 77 points for the night that pushed him to the 16th position in standing. Thus, welcoming an appreciative response from the fans around.

Cody Fraser awes fans with his performance

The numbers that Cody earned on the weekend led him to join the Top 17 riders in the standings expected to qualify for the Finals. The impressive performance wasn’t just the records for the books but also for the fans to marvel. “Tough!! Deadly work cowboy,” a fan admired while another added, “Unbelievable mate.”

With the gushing post, comments were full of praise for the youngster’s work. “Great rides @codyfraser5. You’re a champ!” and the following one encouraged with, “Stepping it up cody, good work mate.”

As the supportive comments poured in, fellow bull rider, Kelsey Pavlou also had a message to drop. “Rank doggg,” it read while another follower of Cody wrote, “Way to go cowboy.”

The comments just flooded in with congratulations and clapping hands for the youngster’s spectacle. With the flowing support, Cody will hopefully step into the arena for the finale showdown and accomplish his year’s goal. The PBR Canada National Finals will be at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, from Nov. 17-18.
