From a $100k triumph to a million-dollar dream

The official Instagram handle of The American Rodeo, @theamerican.tr, took to feature the talented saddle bronc rider Dawson Hay, as The American Rodeo 2024 is around the horizon. The caption reads, “He’s taken home the $100k title at The American Rodeo, but this time it’s all about the Million.” Hailing from Wildwood in west-central Alberta, Canada, Dawson Hay is the 2022 American Champion Saddle Bronc. While he was the winner of a $100k title back then, this time $1.1 million is at stake. It is the richest one-day payday.

The caption further reads, “After coming up just short in a ride-off last year at @GlobeLifeField, Dawson Hay has a million reasons why he’s out for revenge.” In 2023, he fell short of the title as Kaycee Feild occupied the top spot in bareback riding with a 90.5 final score. The American Rodeo 2024 is his ultimate chance for redemption with an extravagant prize money.

Accumulating impressive earnings and multiple NFR qualifications since his rookie year in 2017, Hay is all set to pose formidable competition this year. Standing at 5’7″ and weighing 140 pounds, Hay has won prestigious rodeos like the Calgary Stampede with consistent top performances at the Wrangler NFR, as he chases his second American title now.
