J.C. Trujillo’s fascination with rodeo ignited at the tender age of 6 when he participated in his first calf-riding competition. Though the young boy was apprehensive, his determination led him to clutch onto the calf’s side, securing second place and a prize of $10.80. Little did he know that it was going to shape his future.

Born into a ranching family in Prescott, Arizona, Trujillo’s parents supported his dreams, buying him horses and covering entry fees for junior rodeos. Trujillo followed his parent?s advice and attended Arizona State University, while simultaneously pursuing a rodeo career. Instead of choosing the conventional path of becoming a teacher, he decided to focus on riding bareback horses in rodeo competitions. This choice ultimately led him into the world of professional rodeo, where he would go on to achieve great success and become a world champion.
